Private Medical Insurance
The Association offers Private Medical Insurance cover to its staff through Standard Life Healthcare. Standard Life was founded in Edinburgh in 1825 and became a mutual company in 1925. They have in excess of 5 million customers worldwide. Standard Life Healthcare has enjoyed award-winning success for three years running in the categories of Health Insurance Company of the Year and Best Customer Service. In 2003 they also gained the award of Best Group PMI Provider.
The Association will pay the premiums on behalf of any employee who wishes to join the private health insurance scheme. Premiums are based on the age of the staff member. It should be noted that, as this is a benefit in kind, there will be a small amount of tax to pay on it. Family members can also join the scheme at the corporate rate and the staff member concerned would pay the contribution plus the tax. The amount depends on your individual circumstances. The costs involved under each age bracket are:

Please note that staff do not have to undergo a medical assessment to join the scheme but a two-year moratorium is placed on existing conditions at the time of joining.
